http://thestylekaleidoscope.blogspot.com/ ...Birmingham Street style through the lens of the Hipstamatic App on IPhone 4...

I bumped into blogger Lou Jones yesterday on a freezing cold Digbeth high Street, where she asked if she could take a snap for her blog. Lou does her own version street style in her blog thestylekaleidoscope.blogspot.com/

She photographs street style through the lens of the Hisptamatic App on IPhone 4... "Have camera, will travel; I capture style in all its various guises, courtesy of its creators, in untouched, unedited pictures. The meeting of style with the various effects of the Hipstamatic creates a unique memory of the moment. I hope you enjoy the blog and find it inspirational. Please feel free to comment on the pictures - you can leave comments whether you are a member of Blogger or not - or contact me via email. If I have taken your picture - thank you. You're fabulous."

Lov Li cards for sale at The Old Sweet Shop, London

The Old Sweet Shop looks like a sweet shop from the outside, inside it is a celebration of realistically priced work by artisan-artists who have new ways of looking, new ways of thinking. They also have a fab shop and online shop which stocks our own Lov Li greeting cards

so Meg Mathews is now a wallpaper designer hmmm...

The January Living Etc just popped through the door and flicking through one can see "Interior Designer' Z-lister Meg Mathews showing off here home and promoting her new wallpaper range. Blimey, yet another celeb who thinks they can don the world of fashion and design. Apparently she has a range of scalves and is now 'moving into furniture design'. Judging by here own home featured in Living Etc, she has pretty bad interior style and taste. Her wallpapers are available from Liberty

Meg says "Delving into Liberty’s rich fabric archives and selecting cutesy micro-florals and poppy prints, I reworked them giving them my own rock ‘n’ roll stamp juxtaposing florals with my signature snake skin and skulls. It has been so exciting for me working with Libertys on this exclusive range of wallpapers, I have been able to revisit my interior design past and get my teeth into such a great project, combining great colours, textures and prints to create some truly unique and bespoke styles."

If only it were that easy for the rest of us....

Things we're loving Friday..shopping

We love to Shop Shop Shop...heres a round up of some of our fave fabulous finds around at the moment...

Gorgeous girly lingerie is always top of the list and London based label Beautiful Bottoms is all about delicate silk georgette printed sets any girl would love to own. Prices are reasonable around £28 for knickers and £38 for bras

Graham and Green has a fantastic 20% right now off everything until Tuesday 30th November and Beth has just bought these cheeky Jeeves & Wooster's Pendant Lights £150 - £170

In total contrast to the bowler hat lights above, we rather like this cute Bird Cage Chandelier also from Graham and Green priced at £350

We are also loving these Animal Motif Toiletry Bags £17.50 each

Champagne reception at tonight's 'Revelations' Russian Art Private View

This evening Lov Li will be heading down to the Revelations exhibition private view at The Custard Factory's ZELLIG.

This exhibition is the first Contemporary Group Russian Art Exhibition in Birmingham. For the past 20 years there has been a significant interest in Russian Art and a rediscovery of the Soviet period Socialist Realism. Whilst the London Russian Art scene is vibrant, Birmingham has only brief exposure to Russian contemporary artists and exhibitions. Revelations is showcasing a number of Russian and Ukrainian artists now living and working in different countries but who all received their artistic training in the Soviet Union and Ukraine.

The paintings below are by Vladimir Karnachev

Lov Li @ Sample 2 launch party

On Friday evening we went along to the SAMPLE 2 launch party at Zellig, The Custard Factory. The party brought together a cool crowd from the design community, viewing some great digital prints and graphic art whilst having a few drinks.

Sample is an annual exhibition that showcases the best work from a selection of Midland based creatives. It aims to bring together the best from the area in a way not only to exhibit their work but socialise and communicate. You can check out their website here sampleus.co.uk

The exhibition is then open daily until Friday 26th November (10am-6pm).

Last night we were @ Martin Parr's 'Black Country Stories' Private View

Yesterday evening, we also attended the Private view of one of our fave photographers, Martin Parr. His current photography exhibition on at The Public Gallery, West Brom, is entitled Back Country Stories and captures subjects such as factory workers and locals. Throughout his work, Martin Parr explores ordinary life in Great Britain, by using everyday subjects and capturing British culture and people. He has been producing books focusing on aspects of British life since the 1980's.
